Iris Amick

Namaste. My name is Iris Amick. I am glad to share with you my experience in Yoga. I began taking Yoga at the age of 24 in 1993 from Dr. Richard Pinneau at the Center for Life Enrichment in Greensboro, NC. A friend of mine wanted to try yoga as a means to alleviate stress in her life. I was completely open to the idea since I had just had my first born child one year before!

After practicing Hatha Yoga for 3 hours a week for 3 months, I had fallen completely in Love. Yoga is a complete work-out for mind, body and spirit. Almost 16 years and 2 more children later, I am still practicing yoga! I am fortunate enough to make it my career and offer my knowledge to you.

I was born to teach! I had the unique opportunity to teach Yoga in Savannah, Georgia. However, the timing was not right. I went on to teach Preschool and after moving to Spartanburg, South Carolina, I started my Master’s Degree in Teaching; Early Childhood Education. I love working with children. I am excited to blend two of my passions, Yoga and Teaching. The timing is right to teach yoga once again.

However old, I will always consider myself a student of Yoga as and take classes whenever I am able! There is plenty to learn in the realm of Asanas and Meditation. I believe that Yoga can transform your life at any age. It is never too late to begin your practice! Namaste. (Sanskrit Salutation meaning: “The light within me honors the light within you”)

Leslie Lehman

Hi my name is Leslie Lehman. I started practicing yoga 12 years ago when I dropped in at a free Kundalini yoga class at Arizona State University. I was instantly hooked on the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits. Since then I have practiced many different styles of yoga including Hatha, Bikram, Power, Iyengar, and Kundalini.

Life has taken me across the United States twice and now I am settled in Spartanburg, South Carolina. I decided to start teaching yoga because I wanted to share my passion for power yoga and the strength, flexibility, and inner healing that yoga has to offer.

As a mother of three, my kids are very much a part of my daily yoga practice. They inspired me to teach children’s yoga and family yoga. Yoga is a fantastic non-competitive exercise for children and adults. Yoga is also a great way to bond with your child.

My style of teaching is contemporary, energetic, and fun. I also like to focus on the inner healing effects of yoga. The focus of my teaching is power, vinyasa, beginners, and family/children’s yoga. I completed my teacher certification in Vinyasa Flow with Stephanie Keach of the Asheville Yoga Center in 2008 and was certified in Children’s Yoga in August 2009. She is currently training for her RYT (registered yoga teacher) with Rolf Gates.

Allison Skinner

I took my first yoga class eleven years ago as a business school student in Boston and immediately recognized and appreciated the physical and emotional benefits it provided. Then my job took me around the world and I continued to take yoga classes and experience different teaching styles in Singapore, India, Thailand, New York and Florida...but I recently found my favorite instructors, Leslie and Iris, here in Spartanburg! Through the years as my focus has shifted between having a career and being an at-home mom, I have continued to look to yoga for stress management and to enhance my physical fitness, strength and flexibility. I truly believe everyone can benefit from the simplicity of yoga, and I have never regretted giving myself the gift of a class.
